WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR 2017?

my main goal for 2017 is to complete the Tour De Timor in September, a five day mountain bike race that covers a distance of 500km and 10, 000 metres of elevation. however my biggest goal and challenge this year is to learn how to better manage my fatigue and nutrition when training by engaging a coach to write me a program and keep me on track.

WHEN DID YOUR CYCLING JOURNEY START?

i bought my first road bike in May 2015 after seeing a friend complete a local Gran Fondo event. it triggered an 'i wonder if i could do that?' moment for me and i've been riding regularly ever since. then in August 2016 some women in my cycling community encouraged me to have a go at a mountain bike skills course which was heaps of fun & really pushed me out of my comfort zone. the next day i ordered my mountain bike & love it as much as my road bike.

WHAT SET OF WHEELS DO YOU HAVE?

my road bike is a 2017 Liv Envie Advanced Pro 0 and a Liv Pique 3.

WHERE'S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO RIDE?

riding the great ocean road during the 2016 Amy Gillet Gran Fondo was incredible  but it's hard to top a little spot called Lee Point in my home town. the trails at Lee Point are short and vary so there is always time to mix things up. heading out to the trails always starts & finishes with a roll along the amazing Darwin coastline & because it's right in town i'm always riding with friends.

ON AVERAGE HOW MANY KM'S DO YOU RIDE A WEEK?

it varies greatly, but i would say about 100-200km

WHAT CAN'T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?

a positive cycling culture and my many cycling mentors. i'm lucky that Darwin has a great social cycling scene, particularly when it comes to women welcoming & motivating other women. it's one of the reasons why i'm so passionate about helping women get started.

WHAT'S YOUR ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS JUST STARTING OUT ON THEIR CYCLING JOURNEY?

don't ever feel silly for not knowing things, whether it be what pressure to put in your tyres, where the chafe creme goes, how high you should wear your sock, what bunch etiquette means or how to ride over that rock.

last but not least.. don't doubt yourself and have fun.. you've got this!!
